Writers and Copyright Agency
Copyright Agency’s core services to writers are:
- collecting and distributing copyright fees for educational and government use of works: Coyright Agency has been appointed by the government to manage the ‘statutory licences’ in the Copyright Act that allow educational institutions and governments to use writers’ works without permission, provided they make fair payment
- as the artists’ agent, licensing works to corporations and others: the agency arrangement is non-exclusive and writers remain free to license their works themselves
Copyright Agency’s other services include:
- information and seminars
- e-alerts
- funding for writers’ projects and skills development through our Cultural Fund
- advocacy for writers’ rights
Copyright Agency’s members include authors of fiction, non-fiction and textbooks, poets and journalists.
