Coyright Agency has started building a package of benefits exclusively for its members. At the moment, there are only a few items included in the package, but we are working continuously to build on what we have already negotiated on your behalf. Check this page regularly for updates (we will also send you e-news alerts to bring your attention to new benefits as they become available).
As a Copyright Agency member, you are entitled to receive exclusive information, advice, services and benefits as outlined below. Please note that you will also need to provide your Copyright Agency membership number as proof of your membership when taking advantage of these exclusive offers. Discounts and deals
Australian Book Review (ABR)
Copyright Agency members receive the following discounted rates for ABR’s print and online editions:
- Print (one year subscription): $70 (usually $80)
- Online (one year subscription, full access): $40 (usually $50)

Australian Cartoonists' Association (ACA)
The Australian Cartoonists' Association (ACA) offers a special rate to Copyright Agency members to selected events. Check their website for details on events and quote your membership number when booking.
The ACA is the world's oldest cartooning organisation founded in 1924. Its members are Australia-wide and include political cartoonists, book illustrators, comic strip artists, caricaturists, single gag cartoonists, comic book artists and media artists. The ACA holds an annual conference that includes workshops and guests including leading cartoonists from both here and overseas. The conference also includes The Stanleys, Australia's own cartooning awards (there's six categories) culminating in the Gold Stanley for Cartoonist Of The Year.. Australian Publishers Association (APA)
Copyright Agency members who are not APA members are entitled to a 10% discount off the full entry price to selected APA events. Most APA events are publicised on the Copyright Agency website, but for more information visit the APA website.
The APA is the peak industry body for Australian book, journal and electronic publishers. The association is an advocate for all Australian publishers: large or small; commercial or non-profit; academic or popular; locally or overseas owned, with over 210 members.
APA Professional Development runs a program of workshops and seminars which are highly regarded throughout the industry. Some are industry-specific and others will appeal widely across sectors and across different levels of management. The APA links with Copyright Agency and other key bodies to develop timely professional development opportunities which will update, communicate and educate on the major issues including digital publishing, editorial, marketing, production, export and rights, finance and many others.

Australian Society of Authors (ASA)
The ASA offers a special rate for Copyright Agency members to attend ASA events and workshops. Go to the ASA website for details on their programme of events and quote your Copyright Agency membership number when booking.
The Australian Society of Authors is the professional association for Australia's literary creators. Formed in 1963 to promote and protect the rights of Australia's writers and illustrators, the ASA now has almost 3000 members across Australia.The ASA was instrumental in setting up both the Copyright Agency and the Australian Copyright Council, and successfully campaigned for Public Lending Right in 1975 and Educational Lending Right in 2000, on behalf of authors.
The ASA continues to act as an advocate for the rights of professional authors., setting minimum rates for pay and conditions for authors and illustrators, and publishing books, papers and lists for emerging and established writers. As an ASA member, you’ll receive our journal, Australian Author, and regular newsletters throughout the year. We also provide a contract advisory service, run mentorships for new and emerging writers and offer advice about writing, copyright and publishing. Copyright Agency members who are not existing subscribers to
Bookseller+Publisher magazine or the

Meanjin Literary Journal
Meanjin is offering Copyright Agency members a 10% discount on one, two and three year subscriptions to the journal.
Australia’s second oldest literary journal, Meanjin was founded in Brisbane by Clem Christesen in 1940 (the name, pronounced Mee-an-jin, is derived from an Aboriginal workd for the finger of land on which central Brisbane sits). It moved to Melbourne in 1945 at the invitation of the University of Melbourne and became an imprint of Melbourne University Publishing at the beginning of 2008. The Walkley Foundation
Copyright Agency members receive a 25% discount on all Walkley Foundation events.
The Walkley Foundation’s broad aims are to support and encourage professional and ethical journalism and promote and reward excellence in the Australian media. To do this it manages the Walkley competition and other awards, and hosts a year-round professional development program for journalists and media professionals. It also produces The Walkley Magazine – Inside the Australian Media – full colour bi-monthly media magazine mailed to around 10,000 media professionals.

Staying in touch
Copyright Agency helps members keep in touch with what’s going on in the industry. Regular industry updates and news are published on the Copyright Agency website and an e-newsletter goes out to members every fortnight. Copyright Agency’s quarterly magazine contains feature stories and information for our members and licensees.
Copyright Agency holds an annual member seminar for members at which we provide updates from Copyright Agency and invite industry experts to discuss issues of relevance to members. The member seminars are recorded and made available on the Copyright Agency website for all members to access
