Membership Application
Become a member of CAL and protect your interests as a writer, publisher, visual artist, photographer and creator both in Australia and overseas. To ensure joining is as simple as possible there are a few things you need to consider before filling in your application. Firstly, you'll need to determine whether you are the rightsholder in your work or are entitled to receive copyright payments. Do you have to consider a co-creator or are there any contractual issues you need to examine? These are important issues that could affect your application.
As a visual artist you may claim a resale royalty for your artworks for second and subsequent sales in the Australian art market. You may also be able to participate in and claim payments from the other licence schemes CAL manages, if you control the rights of reproduction or communication for your artworks. If you are a member of CAL and your artworks are identified in one of our sample surveys, you will be able to claim CAL allocations for that use.
If you are a visual artist and do not control these rights, we recommend you still join CAL if you wish to attend meetings, vote for directors or otherwise participate in CAL’s governance. Membership of CAL is free and visual artists can join as author members by completing this application.
CAL's Constitution sets out many of the rules of membership. You can also read CAL's Distribution Rules and our latest Annual Report. If you require any help with your application, or simply have a question relating to copyright don't hesitate to contact our Member Services department on +61 2 9394 7600 or email memberservices@copyright.com.au.
