When a work is identified in one of Copyright Agency’s samples of copying use, we have traditionally made payment for this use to one rightsholder only and that rightsholder has the responsibility of ensuring other rightsholders receive their payment share.
This is set to change as Copyright Agency implements direct payments. Under the direct payment method, Copyright Agency members will be able to receive their individual agreed payment shares directly. By reducing the need for others to make secondary payments, this will improve the speed of payments to all eligible rightsholders.
