Development Manager/Account Manager with passion for the Arts!
This is a brand new role that requires a unique individual who can combine their genuine passion, interest and knowledge of the Australian creative industries with their natural ability to develop and maintain
new opportunities for CAL and its members.
As part of the business development team at CAL you will have two main responsibilities - managing relationships with the art industry for the resale royalty scheme for visual artists and developing projects with copyright owners, galleries, libraries and other stakeholders to enhance access to copyright works by the community, whilst ensuring revenue growth for CAL’s members.
For the resale royalty scheme you will:
- manage relationships with the art industry, including coordinating a panel of art industry professionals;
- develop and implement communication and stakeholder management strategies and plans, including written communications, seminars, events and web based communications, in partnership with CAL’s corporate communications team;
- work with the art industry to ensure they comply with their obligations under the Act, which includes the electronic reporting of sales;
- speak at events and seminars about the resale royalty scheme;
- develop CAL’s systems for receiving, managing and paying royalties, including working with internal stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective collection of data and payments;
- report to senior management and the CAL Board about the management of the resale royalty scheme;
- manage the company wide budget for the scheme; and
- report to government on the effective management of the resale royalty scheme.
For Creative Industry projects you will:
- manage and develop relationships with galleries, museums and libraries;
- develop projects that focus on improving access to material held in public collections while at the same time protecting the interests of the copyright owners of those works;
- work with copyright owner representatives to develop mechanisms for improving accessibility of their works, including licences;
- understand copyright legislation and communicate its requirements to others;
- contribute to policy discussions and submissions on issues to do with exceptions and limitations and orphan works;
- keep informed about related developments in other countries; and
- report to CAL management and Board about the projects, and present proposals for new and innovative projects.
You will possess excellent communication and professional presentation skills, have had proven experience in client management, business development and have developed practical negotiation skills. An outcomes-focused approach and knowledge of the visual arts sector will be key to this appointment, as will a tertiary qualification in the arts or business, together with experience in arts administration, government policy or commercial project management.
This role requires an eclectic mix of skills, passions and interests and, as you can imagine, offers a rewarding opportunity to shape projects of importance to the creative sector. The salary for this role will be approximately $100,000pa.
The Visual Arts Manager will be accountable for the recruitment of new visual artist members and the provision of services to existing visual artist members and their peak bodies. This role will coordinate CAL’s services (including payments) for copyright owners of artistic works as well as owners of the resale right.
The role will include engaging with artists, working with their representative groups and participating in the implementation of effective communication and membership strategies developed with the Rightsholder Relations, Communications and Business Development teams to provide the best outcomes for CAL visual artist members and resale royalty participants.
You will assist in locating and communicating with artists and their representatives about the scheme and the benefits of membership; handle queries; facilitate the registration and membership application process including participation in the various licensing opportunities offered by CAL; and provide feedback from the membership constituency to assist in the planning, implementation and success of services. You will also meet reasonable targets for recruitment and registration.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of the Australian art world and the Artist Resale Royalty Scheme
- Proven experience in arts administration or arts management
- Excellent communication, presentation and people skills
- A methodical approach with strong attention to detail
- Experience in database management
The approximate salary range for this role is $60,000-$65,000pa.
Information Management Coordinator
Reporting to the Manager, Information Management you will be working closely with all the managers in the Information Management division to coordinate activities and provide office administration support.
This role will provide opportunities for a person with 1-2 years office administration experience to further develop their skills becoming proficient in using MS office applications including Project, Powerpoint, and Visio, meeting preparation and minute taking, and preparing presentations and reports.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Update and maintain the data processing schedule
- Assist with preparing data researcher training materials
- Assist with preparing and maintaining processing procedures
- Assisting in organising and coordinating protocols and procedures
- Coordinate internal and external meetings
- Preparing agendas and taking minutes at meetings
- Preparing files/data for audits
- Producing daily performance reports
- Managing subscriptions and stationery orders
- Recording staff attendance and leave
- Organising staff events
Essential criteria include:
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail whilst addressing competing priorities and deadlines
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Strong customer and team focus
- Knowledge of Microsoft office applications will be highly regarded

Manager, Education & Government
This senior management role will:
- Develop close working relationships with key user groups, working to understand their needs policies and process, providing improved access to quality educational content
- Manage usage monitoring and reporting systems
- Further develop and maintain effective quality management processes
A key measure of your success will be your ability to influence and facilitate change through collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the General Manager Business Services, you will have
high level contract negotiation skills and experience in dealing with senior managers in the education and government sectors.
Your enthusiasm to be part of strengthening the creation and dissemination of quality literary, artistic, scientific and technical content in education and government will be your primary motivation in this role.
You will have legal, economic, or business tertiary qualifications and a strong career background in managing contracts and business relationships.
Knowledge or experience in the publishing industry, copyright, government policy or administration will be the basis of your application.
